Chancel Choir | Chancel Winds | Chancel Bells
The Kernstown UMC Chancel Choir leads worship each Sunday at 11:00 am and occasionally at the 8:30 am service. The choir practices regularly on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm except during the summer months of June and July. The choir sings a wide variety of music and often looks to add other elements of instrumentation when appropriate. The group is open for adults and teenagers. Choir Director, Kelly Henshaw strives to keep choir challenging and fun.
The Kernstown Wind Ensemble is made up of youth and adults who play a variety of wind and reed instruments. The Chancel Winds lead worship on the second and fourth Sundays and rehearse at 10:00 am on those Sundays. The Chancel Winds are truly a gift to Kernstown United Methodist Church and have had the privilege to share the gift of music throughout many other churches in the surrounding areas. They feature two concerts throughout the year, one in the late fall that features secular hymns and several Christmas favorites and a crowd favorite in the spring around Memorial Day that features Patriotic favorites. Music Director Ronald Dye welcomes all levels of musical talent and truly demonstrates his passion for music through his work with the chancel winds.
The Kernstown Chancel Bells are directed by the Anne Terrell and feature four octaves. The bells perform during both the 8:30 am and 11:00 am services. Anne has brought a new energy to the Chancel Bells and welcomes all new comers.
